Gurgaon : The Gurgaon traffic police has asked traffic offenders booked over the last two years to pay up their fines by Sep 15 or face trial, a police officer said Friday.
“More than 27,000 cases of people who were challaned (booked) for traffic and Motor Vehicles Act violations are yet to appear before court and pay their fines. The cases have been pending for the last two years. If the offenders don’t come forward by Sep 15, a special process of issuing summons and warrants would be started,” said DCP (Traffic) Bharti Arora.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Gurgaon traffic police to take immediate action on the pending cases of traffic rule violations. These numbers are the highest in Haryana.
