Azamgarh: The Association for Welfare, Medical, Educational and Legal Assistance (AWMELA) Azamgarh, submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Azamgarh in protest against Batla House encounter that took place on this very day four years ago.
Four years have passed after the infamous encounter in which two youths of Azamgarh, one among them teenager, were apparently killed in cold blood. An inspector of Police also mysteriously succumbed to seemingly non-fatal bullet injury on way to hospital.

Nobody could have guessed death of Inspector Sharma who climbed down a four storied building and walked down the road on his feet with little assistance from his colleagues on either side.
In spite of massive protest in the form of two train loads of people to Delhi and Lucknow, National and State Capital respectively, and regular yearly protests on 19th September every year since 2008, a simple demand for impartial probe in the encounter has not materialized. It is beyond comprehension as to why our secular democratic set-up is reluctant to accede to this fair demand of an enquiry.
AWMELA delegation was led by its President, Dr. Javed Akhtar, who submitted the memorandum to C.R.O. in D.M’s office. The C.R.O. promised to forward the memo as soon as possible.
