Kolkata : Batting for a ‘single window system’ in the agriculture sector, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Wednesday called for an increased coordination among financial institutions, food departments and fertilizer centres to step up growth.
“The agriculture sector should have a ‘single window system’, as we have introduced in the industrial sector. This will help the farmers in a big way, so that they are not harassed to make repeated visits to various organisations like banks, financial institutions, fertilizer and food departments, etc,” Banerjee said on Facebook.
Banerjee said that during the first meeting of the Committee of Chief Ministers of Bringing Green Revolution to Eastern India (BGREI), she had made several suggestions and considerations, including reducing the “increased” prices of fertilizers.
“It is also necessary that there should be proper coordination amongst all organs connected to agriculture sector,” the chief minister said.
“If coordination meetings take place once in every six months amongst the departments of banking, agriculture, food, fertilizers, horticulture, animal resources, etc, the results will be highly beneficial to the cause of the agricultural sector in general, and the farmers in particular,” she added.
