AMU students to participate in international youth conference at Islamabad

Aligarh: Zulfiqar Sheth, an MA (Final) student of the Department of Economics, Aligarh Muslim University has been selected to represent India in International Youth Conference 2013 at Islamabad, Pakistan during April 10-15, 2013.

The Conference is being organized by United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP). The conference is expected to be the largest US government youth exchange alumni conference in the world.



Zulfiqar Sheth

Zulfiqar Seth, also a Senior Proctorial Monitor, Secretary, Literary and Cultural Society and Secretary, Coaching and Guidance Cell, VM Hall, is one of the 10 students from Uttar Pradesh to be part of this conference.

The scheduled conference on “The faces of change, the changes we face”, is aimed at focusing on social enterprise and how young people can bring about social change through civil society and arts. Further, the conference will inspire young minds to make a bigger difference in their communities, create regional networks for youth activists and train youth leaders in digital skills to expand their ideas and projects.

Seth is attending the special event as a youth ambassador of India and Aligarh Muslim University. He has visited US in 2012 on a US scholarship where he was bestowed upon the Student Excellence Award-2012 by Northern Virginia Community College for his exemplary performance in service, academics and leadership. He shared dais with US President Barrack Obama.

Seth has participated in a number of national and international conferences including annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Annual Research Conference at the IMF, Global Youth Conference, Mid Atlantic Regional Conference of Amnesty International and the Youth Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York where he delivered a speech on Millennium Development Goals and Technology.
