“We are worried…we should not go back to the days of violence in student politics,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari told reporters here while referring to the attack on the Presidency University in Kolkata by members of Trinamool Congress’ student wing, Chhatra Parishad.

“It is the responsibility of all political parties to ensure that political dialogue takes place in a sober manner,” he added.

The minister’s comments came after Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) members stormed the Presidency University campus and beat up students Wednesday.

This was in response to the heckling of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Finance Minister Amit Mitra by the activists of Students’ Federation of India (SFI), the student arm of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, in New Delhi Tuesday.
