New Delhi : A study on the factors causing distress among young officers of Indian Army has been undertaken and its recommendations to minimise stress levels are expected to come by the end of the year, Defence Minister A.K. Antony told the Rajya Sabha Wednesday.
He said the Defence Institute of Psychological Research (DIPR), a laboratory of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has undertaken a study on “Factors Causing Distress among Young Officers of Indian Army”.
Antony said the study is aimed at studying the level of distress prevailing among the young officers, the factors that create distress among young officers and deplete their resources to cope with it and suggest remedial measures to manage stress among young officers.
He said the study is likely to be completed by December 2013.
“After completion of study, report will be submitted to the government alongwith recommendations to minimize stress level among army officers,” Antony said.
Answering another query, he said the government was not in favour of making military training compulsory to all the youth of the country.
