Islamabad: At least 93 people have been killed in rain-triggered incidents in Pakistan over the last two weeks, official statistics showed Wednesday.
According to data compiled by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), 94 people were injured, Xinhua reported.
Monsoon rains have affected 84,300 people, destroyed 2,300 houses and affected over 58 hectares of crops.
The southern province of Sindh has been the worst hit, where 22 people were killed.
Floods have affected 15 villages and swept away 193 houses.
Rain water entered houses in low-lying areas, and disrupted railway, road and air traffic.
At least 21 people have died and 149 houses were destroyed in the northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The floodwater destroyed several bridges and highways.
In Punjab, heavy downpour killed at least 18 people. Rains have destroyed 140,799 acres of standing crops, the NDMA report said.
In Balochistan, 16 people were killed in rain-triggered incidents.
In Pakistan-administered Kashmir, heavy rainfall killed at least four people.
Monsoon rains hit Pakistan every year in June and the season normally ends in the first week of September. The most destructive flood hit the country in 2010, sweeping away 20 percent of the land and leaving 1,540 people dead and 2,088 others injured.
According to a UN report, 557,226 houses were destroyed and over six million people were displaced in the 2010 flood.
In 2011, floods killed 270 people in Sindh. At least 5.3 million people were displaced and 1.2 million houses destroyed.
