Tehran : Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the head of a foreign policy committee in the Iranian parliament, Saturday criticised the US and Western countries for pursuing their political objectives by bringing baseless charges towards Iran’s nuclear programme.
Boroujerdi is head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission in the Majlis, the lower house of parliament.
He told a group of academics that the “arrogant powers” know quite well that Iran’s nuclear programme was within the framework of international laws and regulations, but the western powers pursue political objectives by bringing baseless charges, the IRNA news agency reported.
Boroujerdi said reactions by western countries towards Iran’s nuclear programme emanated from their hostility towards the Islamic republic.
He said Iran is currently a member of the club of countries possessing peaceful nuclear technology.
