International education convention in Guwahati

    133 meritorious students from across India felicitated.

    Guwahati: 133 meritorious students were felicitated with various awards from across India during the International Education Convention organized by American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI) in Guwahati.

    The two-day convention was inaugurated by Tripura governor Devanand Konwar at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkhowa in Guwahati on Saturday. Devanand Konwar appreciated the initiative taken by AFMI. “These awards will definitely encourage the students. I think more such initiatives should be taken for the uplift of the downtrodden in the society,” he said.



    Konwar also appreciated the move of Ajmal Foundation and Markazul Ma’arif for co-organising this mega event here in Guwahati.

    Congratulating all medal winners founder Trustee of AFMI, Dr AR Nakadar said that they are giving more focus on education as it is the prime weapon towards development. “We live in a society where we suffer from frustration, disappointment and failures. To overcome these we must build a positive environment,” Nakader added.

    A souvenir called ‘Luit’ with 50 research based articles written by the notable educationists, academicians and research scholars was also released during the occasion.

    On the occasion, the AFMI has also honoured Dhurbri MP and perfume baron Badruddin Ajmal with the prestigious Sir Syed award 2013.

    Besides, there will be a number of lecture sessions on issues like ‘Enhancing learning and leadership opportunities for children and youth’, ‘Muslim education in the North East – challenges and opportunities’ and ‘Empowering women as key agents of change’.

    These topics will be addressed by a number of educationists of North East including Prof. Mridul Hazarika, Vice Chancellor, Gauhati University; Prof. P.K Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor, USTM; and Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury, Pro Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University in the presence of K. Rehman Khan, Hon’ble Union Minister for Minority Affairs.
