Jamia organizes cultural programmes in memory of Zakir Hussain and Tagore

New Delhi: The Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize two-day cultural programmes – Chahaar Bait and All India Mushaira under its Tagore Research and Translation Scheme.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Zakir Hussain, the first President of India, on February 8, 2013, Chahaar Bait will be organized at 7 pm in the Ansari Auditorium.

The Director Rampur Raza Library Professor SM Azizuddin Hussain will participate in this programme as a Special Guest. In this programme the two teams of Utter Pradesh Bazm-e-Ahbab from Bachhraon, JP Nagar and Akhara Ghulam Ali Khan from Rampur will participate.

The Head of the Department of Urdu Jamia Millia Islamia, Prof. Shahnaz Anjum will deliver the welcome note and Dr. Suhail A. Faruqi, the convener of the programme will present the basic introduction of Dr. Zakir Hussain.

On February 9, 2013 at 7 pm, an All India Mushaira is going to be organized in the Ansari Auditorium where the Registrar JMI, Prof. SM Sajid will be the Guest of Honor and Prof. Khalid Mahmood, Department of Urdu will preside the programme.

In the Mushaira the renowned poets from all over India including Azhar Inaeti, Javed Nasimi (Rampur) Krishn Kumar Toor (Dharamshala), Ameen Ashraf, Jamuna Prasad Rahi (Aligarh), Nasim Ansari (Bhopal), Rajesh Reddi (Mumbai), Alam Khursheed (Patna), Praveen K. Ashk (Patiala), Shahid Akhtar (Gaya), Shams Tabrezi (Chandigarh), Omair Manzar (Lucknow), Zaki Tariq (Ghaziabad) and Asrar Jamai, Moin SHadab (Delhi) will participate.

Besides these poets the poets from Dept. of Urdu JMI Prof. Khalid Mahmood, Prof. Shehpar Rasool, Dr. Ahmad Mahfooz and Dr. Suhail A. Faruqi will also recite their poetry in the Mushaira.
