New Delhi: The Congress took a dig at Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Friday and dubbed him “anti-poor, anti-woman” and someone “who does not know how to spell agriculture”.
“He has no respect for his own wife or someone else’s wife. He is anti-poor, anti-rural development, anti-women. He lives in urban fantasies. He does not know how to spell ‘agriculture’,” Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury told reporters.
Chowdhury said that the BJP was a divided house and there was no reason for the Congress to waste time over Modi, being touted as the main prime ministerial contender of his party.
She added there were seven contenders in the opposition party for the top job.
Commenting on the reported remarks of Janata Dal-United chief Sharad Yadav – a close ally of the BJP – who hinted that corporates were backing Modi, Chowdhury said Yadav was intelligent and was not given to making accusation without substantial evidence.
