New Delhi: Seeking to build bridges with the BJP, which sought an apology from him over his “Hindu terrorism” remarks, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Monday said he agreed that terrorism has no colour.
Answering queries during his monthly press conference here, Shinde said some words could be expressed by mistake.
“I fully agree with views of my party,” Shinde said.
Shinde had referred to “Hindu terrorism” and “saffron terrorism” during the Congress conclave in Jaipur last month.
Following his remarks, Congress spokesperson Janardan Dwivedi had said that terrorism should not be linked with any religion and terror had no religion or colour.
The BJP had said it would protest outside Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence Feb 20, a day before the start of the budget session of parliament, to press its demand that Shinde should apologise for his remarks.
The BJP party has decided to boycott public programmes of Shinde and not respond to any communication from him as leader of the house in the Lok Sabha.
