New Delhi : Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari Friday instructed the government to probe the incident of a woman MP from Kerala allegedly being roughed up by Delhi Police.
“Some MPs met me and informed me that T.N. Seema was manhandled by the Delhi Police. This is a serious matter related to dignity of the member,” Ansari said.
“Government should do an enquiry and give the report before the next sitting of parliament,” he said.
Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MPs Seema and M.B. Rajesh, along with some other activists were allegedly roughed up Thursday during a protest against Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P.J. Kurien for his alleged involvement in the Suryanelli rape case.
They were marching towards Parliament House when they were stopped.
