Jennifer Lawrence bagged best actress in a motion picture in the musical comedy category for “Silver Linings Playbook”.

“Les Miserables” is based on the musical of the same name by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg, which in turn based is on “Les Miserables”, the 1862 French novel by Victor Hugo.

Set in nineteenth-century France, the film tells the story of Jean Valjean, who for decades has been hunted by the ruthless policeman Javert after he breaks parole. Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s daughter, Cosette. The fateful decision changes their lives forever.

The film features Jackman, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, who also won the best actress in a supporting role in a motion picture Golden Globe for her portrayal of an ill-fated prostitute dying of tuberculosis in the musical.
