Women’s group accuses government of inaction

New Delhi : Even a month after the Delhi gang-rape, the central and state governments have not pinpointed accountability for the incident, the All India Democratic Women’s Association said Wednesday.

“The central and state governments are yet to learn any lessons. This is shown by the refusal to pinpoint accountability and responsibility for those responsible,” a statement from the group said.

“In spite of all the high-sounding statements from the central government, the attitude of the home minister did not inspire any confidence of a change in attitude to understand the urgency of issues involved,” it said.

It said a delegation led by CPI-M’s Brinda Karat met Home Minister Shushilkumar Shinde Tuesday to demand action from the government on issues concerning sexual assault.
