Hyderabad: Karimnagar Town II Police Station has registered a criminal case against Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) general secretary and Charminar MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri for his remarks on Gandhi Statue in the Andhra Pradesh legislative Assembly.

Mr. Quadri is booked under sections 121A (Waging war against the nation) 124A (sedition), 153B (assertions prejudicial to national integration), 500 (prosecution for defamation), for questioning the existence of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in the Andhra Pradesh legislative assembly premises which was built by Nizam.

MIM general secretary made those remarks on Friday in Jagtiyal town of Karimnagar district in a book distribution ceremony for Urdu medium school students.

Ahmed Pasha Quadri made the following remarks in his speech which got him branded as insurgent, he said, “In assembly Gandhiji’s statue was installed. Whose father’s building it is and who was fitted in the assembly? They want to change the history of India. Sitting in the building constructed by Nizam Sarkar they talk about changing the course of our history.”

Then again in the midst of slogan shouting he continued his ‘us’ and ‘they’ rhetoric said, “The colour of Red Fort has given by us, the height of Qutub Minar has given by us, the beauty of Taj Mahal is given by us, historic monuments like Mecca Masjid and Charminar is presented by us, what you have done in Hindustan?”

Same day BJP Karimnagar district activists lodged the complaint with the Town II Police Station, alleging that Ahmed Pasha Quadri hurt the sentiments of Indians by making remarks on Gandhi.

A day after police failed to register case against MIM general secretary, BJP activists went to local court and filed petition for registration of case against Ahmed Pasha Quadri. Acting on the petition local first class Munsif magistrate directed local police to register a case against Ahmed Pasha Quadri.

Following court order police booked MIM general secretary under serious charges, same charges which got his party floor leader in legislative assembly Akabruddin Owaisi landed in jail.
