New Delhi : The President’s Police Medal for gallantry has been awarded to Constable Daler Singh (posthumously) of Jammu and Kashmir, while 874 other police personnel were named for various other medals Friday on the eve of 64th Republic Day.
The police medals for gallantry (PMG) have been awarded to 115 personnel, the president’s Police Medals for distinguished service to 88 and police medals for meritorious service to 671 personnel, an official release said.
It said 37 personnel have been awarded correctional service medals — President’s Correctional Service Medal for distinguished service to five, correctional service medal for meritorious service to 29 and President’s Correctional Service Medals for gallantry to three personnel.
Constable Daler Singh (posthumous) is the only winner of the President’s Police Medal for gallantry.
The Central Reserve Police Force has got the maximum awards among the paramilitary forces with 95 police medals — including 32 police medals for gallantry, six President’s Police Medals for distinguished service, and 57 police medals for meritorious service.
Delhi Police have been awarded 21 police medals — including one police medal for gallantry, three President’s Police Medals for distinguished service, and 17 police medals for meritorious service.
The Central Bureau of Investigation has been awarded 28 police medals — six President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 22 police medals for meritorious service. National Investigative Agency has been awarded with two police medals for meritorious service.
The Border Security Force has been awarded with 52 police medals — including one police medal for gallantry, five President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 46 police medals for meritorious service.
The Central Industrial Security Force has been awarded with 27 police medals — two President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 25 police medals for meritorious service.
The National Security Guard (NSG) has been given four police medals for meritorious service, while the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been awarded three President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 12 police medals for meritorious service.
The Sashastra Seema Bal has been awarded with one police medal for distinguished service and 11 police medals for meritorious service.
Uttar Pradesh Police have been awarded five President’s Police Medals for distinguished service and 73 police medals for distinguished service.
