New Delhi : Delhi’s Lt. Governor Tejendra Khanna Friday asked new and young voters to vote wisely.
“New and young voters should use their right wisely. Before casting their vote, voters must think twice and thrice and vote only for the representative who fulfills the criteria of good governance. They should also ensure whether the candidate is honest towards development of the country,” Khanna said.
Speaking on National Voter’s Day here, Khanna also gave election cards to some new voters.
He said that society thrives if the women are respected.
“Our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, all are women. We all have to respect them and provide a sense of safety and a secure environment in which they can work freely and travel around the city without any fear,” Khanna added.
The objective of the National Voters Day is to increase citizen’s participation in the electoral process, more specifically to enroll the newly eligible youth who have just turned 18 years of age.
