New Delhi: Over 10,000 people have questioned the CBI’s probe into the 2008 Aarushi Talwar-Hemraj double murder case through online petition which was submitted here to minister of state for personnel, public grievances and pensions V. Narayanasamy Monday.
The petition seeks justice for the teenager’s parents Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, both dentists, currently facing trial after being accused of murdering their teenaged daughter Aarushi and their domestic help Hemraj in their flat in Noida May 16, 2008.
“With the petition we have requested fair trail in the case,” Dinesh Talwar, brother of Rajesh Talwar, told IANS.
“We sincerely hope and pray that a fair trial will be carried out and the Talwar couple will be allowed to put forth their case without bias and prejudice,” he said.
The webpage, www.change.org/aarushi, was launched in October 2012 by the Talwars’ friend, Shiba Mehra.
Aarushi’s body was found with her throat slit at the Talwars’ flat in Noida while Hemraj was found killed on the terrace the next day.
The case was initially handled by Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police but was handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The petition says, “UP Police mishandled the case as they lacked professional expertise essential for getting evidence on the spot. To cover-up for their inept handling, they fabricated a baseless and make-believe story, implicating the parents.”
