New Delhi : Lt. Governor Tejinder Khanna Monday laid foundation for India’s largest public-private partnership (PPP) housing project worth Rs.1,800 crore for Delhi Police personnel on the outskirts of the national capital.
“With a total of 5,202 flats, three kinds of housing units will be constructed under this project which has its maximum construction time limit of around 885 days. Well known MNC Punj Lloyd will construct the quarters and also maintain them for 25 years,” said Khanna at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the project.
Located in north Delhi’s Dheerpur, the flats will come up on a 60 acre plot and in 13-storey (ground plus 12 floors with lift facilities) buildings.
“Of the 5,202 flats, a total of 4,256 (type two) quarters will be constructed only for constable and head constable rank officials, 700 (type 3) quarters for sub-inspector rank officials, and 246 (type 4) flats will be prepared for other senior officers,” said Special Commissioner of Police B.S. Bassi.
“On its completion, our housing satisfaction level will increase up to 25 percent,” he said.
“In a police force, where the present housing satisfaction level stands at a dismal 18.6 percent, this is being seen as a huge step that is bound to boost the motivational levels of the force,” added Bassi.
The housing complex which will also have provision for schools, shopping area, community facilities and dispensary, will provide a contemporary and a modern way of life to the Delhi Police personnel.
“It is the first of its kind PPP mode project of India with such a large amount (Rs.1,800 crore),” said Bassi.
