Imphal: The meritorious Muslim students of the State were felicitated by All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organization (AMMSO) at the third Mohd. Hanif Shah Memorial Meritorious Award-cum-Felicitation Programme-2013 held on July 8, 2013 at Kuki Inn, Imphal.
The programme was graced by Parliamentary Secretary of Minorities & Other Backward Classes (MOBC) and SCs Md. Amin Shah, MLA and Chairman of WAKF Board, Manipur Mohd. Fajur Rahim and Mohd. Farid Khan as Chief Guest, Programme President and President respectively.

President of Jamiat-ul-Ulema, Manipur Alhaj Moulana Sayeed Ahmed, Social Worker Dr. Syed Burhanuddin, President of United Manipur Muslim Women Development Organization (UMMWDO) Anwari Noorjahan, President of All Manipur Muslim Organization Co-ordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) Mohd. Kheiruddin Shah, Chief Advisor of AMMSO Mohd. Mustafa Alam and Convenor of Joint Committee on ILP Students’ Wing M. Angamba Meitei attended the programme as Guests of Honour.
The Muslims students of the State who cleared the recently declared Class X and XII Exams scoring high marks were felicitated by presenting Mohd. Hanif Shah Memorial Meritorious Award. The award was named after the former President of AMMSO who was killed on November 17, 2007 by some unidentified gunmen. Md. Hellaluddin Shah, who topped the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2013, conducted by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), was also awarded.
The founder members of AMMSO were also felicitated by presenting citations. The father of Mohd. Hanif Shah was also honored by presenting a special citation.
Speakers at the function lauded the achievement of the Muslim students and wished them success in their future endeavors.
Addressing the function, Md. Amin Shah asserted that all efforts would be made to bring a separate Directorate for the Muslims. He also said that all the meritorious Muslim students felicitated at the programme will be given scholarship by the MOBC Department through AMMSO. He announced that the Department is planning to introduce a scheme to encourage Muslim girl students of the State to complete school education by offering bi-cycles.
