New Delhi : A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking direction to the city government to set up a Madrasa board to look into the educational as well as other basic needs of Muslim children.
The plea came up for hearing Wednesday before a division bench of Acting Chief Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Vibhu Bhakhru.
The Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by NGO Gharib Nawaz Foundation also sought a court direction to the lieutenant governor and Delhi government to provide funds to meet the educational expenses of such children.
The plea said: “Such educational Madrasa boards in other states have been looking after the educational and other requirements of such children. But it is only in Delhi that such facilities have been completely lacking.”
