Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav back-patted himself Thursday and said the Planning Commission has lauded his government’s efforts in improving the development indices in the state.
Speaking at a function to launch several infrastructural and construction projects, Yadav said his government was fulfilling the promises made to the people of the state before the 2012 assembly elections.
He laid the foundation stones of more than 350 roads, flyovers, railway overbridges and power sub-stations worth several crores. Assuring the people that development would be carried forward, Yadav, who faces stiff challenges on the law and order and power fronts, added that bringing back the derailed state on track was time consuming.
He, however, added that the government was working overtime to take the state forward and has identified infrastructure, power, health and agriculture sectors as key areas for all-round progress.
Responding to questions on which party stood the best chance in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the chief minister said people were likely to vote for development.
