New Delhi : US ambassador to India Nancy J. Powell has announced that the US was providing $150,000 to NGOs working in the worst affected areas of flood-hit Uttarakhand.
The funding is being done through the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
The money will provide emergency relief to the families in remote areas of the state in coordination with the state authorities, a US embassy statement said.
The ambassador said: “We are deeply saddened by the tremendous personal loss and the damage to houses, public buildings, temples, roads and bridges as well as safe drinking water sources, livestock and agricultural land.”
