Kolkata: The West Bengal unit of the Students Islamic Organization of India (SIO), in collaboration with the Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) distributed scholarships to 215 Post Graduate students from different parts of the state.
Award ceremony and scholarship distribution programme was held at Haj House, Park Circus, Kolkata on 3 March, 2013.
Mr. Intaj Ali Shah, State Chairman of Minority Commission, West Bengal delivering his speech in the scholarship distribution programme.
Chairman of State Minority Commission of West Bengal Intaj Ali Shah delivered an inspiring speech to the students. He said, “Students should always remember five D – dream, desire, devotion, determination and dedication – for success,” adding, “ink is more valuable than the martyr’s blood and hence we all should give education importance in accordance with the basic tenets of Islam, whose first revelation emphasized on reading.”
State President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Md Nooruddin said that students also need to study the Islamic perspectives for better understanding of future.

Secretary of Amanat Foundation and Muslim Think Tank Association Shah Alam said, “Students’ period is the most important part of life, hence realizing their potential they should work towards the right guidance as taught in Islam.”
Regional Coordinator of Human Welfare Foundation (HWF) Md Masud Alam said there are so many organizations in the state, which offer scholarships to students from technical/professional background mainly. But HWF chose the students from social science background (MBA, Rural Development, Social Work, Political Science, Law, Hospital Management, B.Ed., Disaster Management, etc.) as they can “play an important role in building a healthy society in our country.”
Muslim students gathered in the scholarship distribution programme.
Besides providing scholarship, SIO also offers various programmes beneficial for students, such as examination preparation, education and career guidance camps etc.
State Secretary of Jamat-E-Islami Hind Md Abdur Rafique, State President of All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA) Julfikar Ali Mollah, Naional Secretary of SIO Mafikul Islam and many others distinguished persons were present in this award and scholarship distribution programme.
