New Delhi : Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde Monday ruled out handing over the body of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to his family, saying that it was against the jail rules.
“Under jail rules, the body cannot be given. The family can come here and pray,” Shinde told reporters here.
Afzal’s wife Tabassum had demanded that his body should be handed over to the family. Several political parties in Kashmir had also made a similar demand.
Afzal Guru was hanged at the Tihar Jail here Feb 9 and his body buried in the jail premises.
