Amid uproar in the house, Rural Development Minister Hemchand Yadav however claimed that there was no dearth of jobs in the area and people were going to neighbouring Andhra Pradesh only to tap greener pastures as also to meet their relatives there.

Raising the issue through a call attention motion, Congress member Sakrajit Nayak contended that though central government is providing enough funds for the welfare of people of poverty-hit, tribal-dominated Bastar under various centrally-funded schemes but due to apathetic attitude of the state administration, people were devoid of jobs and are forced to migrate to neighbouring states in search of jobs.

He alleged that neither all the families living below poverty line have been issued job cards nor their wages of the jobs executed under the rural job guarantee scheme are being paid timely.
