New Delhi : A 24-year-old braveheart managed to foil a rape attempt, jumping out of a moving car in which she was dragged in by two acquaintances as she was on her way home, said police Friday. The accused have been arrested.
The incident was reported from west Delhi’s Aman Vihar area around 10.45 Thursday night.
The woman, a resident of Prem Nagar area in Aman Vihar, was walking towards her home when she was kidnapped by the two accused – Kuldeep,24, and Deepak, 19.
“The accused tried to rape the victim, but she managed to jump out of the car. The woman received an injury in her left leg that came under the rear wheels of the car when she jumped out,” said a police officer.
The accused also tried to run over the victim, but she managed to save her life, added the officer.
In the meantime, some people gathered at the spot and the accused fled from the spot.
The woman, who works as an accountant in a private firm in Delhi’s Karol Bagh, was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital where her condition is stated to be out of danger.
Both the accused, who were arrested from their hideouts in Aman Vihar late Thursday night and Friday afternoon, belong to Aman Vihar and are known to the victim.
Kuldeep has a fleet of ‘Gramin Sewa’ transport vehicles and also runs a finance office in Delhi’s Kirari area. Deepak worked as a driver for Kuldeep earlier.
