Local media reported that the youths, supposedly from the Hindu community, began abusing and physically assaulting the Welfare Party of India members, outside the Sarovar Bar, Kemmannu.

Soon a group of around 30 Muslims from Hoode came to Kemmannu, to find the boys behind the attack. Upon receiving the news, the police immediately rushed to the spot and tried to nab the youths, but they managed to escape, riding their fast bikes.

This is the second such incident witnessed in Udupi this week, the first being the communal clash in Padutonse Bengre village over an alleged cattle trafficking incident.
