The programme on ‘Leadership and School Management’, described as one of the biggest CBSE initiatives nationwide, would be conducted by the New Delhi-based Organisation Development Alternatives (ODA).

“In keeping with the changing times, we believe the school principals too need to expand their leadership capability to manage the entire education process,” a CBSE spokesperson told IANS.

“The leadership and school management programme will empower teachers to play a bigger role in leading teams, managing conflict and improving overall education process,” the official, who did not wish to be named, said.

The ODA is a consulting firm that coaches chief executive officers and celebrities to help them realise their potential and bring about lasting positive change.

Some of ODA’s recent assignments include Abbott Vascular Asia-Pacific, Bausch and Lomb, Baxter, Godfrey Philips, Intel, Merck Sharp and Dohme, Nestle, Pepsico and TVS and Sons.

Santhosh Babu, founder and managing director, ODA, said: “Specialist teams will bring in vast knowledge, skills and experience of developing leadership in the corporate sector to help principals to open their minds to new ways of leading and managing schools of the 21st century.”

“The Art of Developing Leaders” (Wiley, 2012), a book authored by Santhosh Babu, delves into the coaching methodology and tools that help organisational leaders and professional coaches.
