Chandigarh : The Haryana Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sealed an unauthorised factory which was selling medical devices, especially heart kits, to hospitals in national capital, a spokesman said here Thursday.
“A factory of medical devices, M/s Super Cardio Pvt Ltd, Bahadurgarh, which was being run without any manufacturing licence, has been raided by a team of and they have seized medical devises worth Rs.4 lakh,” the spokesman said.
“Life saving devices were being manufactured under unhygienic conditions without following the good manufacturing practices provided in Schedule-M of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules. The devices, known as ‘Heart Lung Pack’, are used in major surgeries, including heart surgery,” he said.
He added that the devices were being supplied by the factory to major hospitals in the national capital, including government institutes. “All the devices were sealed in 23 cartons and produced before chief judicial magistrate at Jhajjar,” he said.
FDA Commissioner Rakesh Gupta said that prosecution under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act would be launched in the court against the factory owners.
