Chandigarh : The Haryana government will seek legal opinion for further action on the report submitted by a committee on the properties acquired illegally by former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala and his sons through various trusts and societies, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Tuesday.
Hooda told the state assembly that the recommendations of the committee on properties acquired by the Chautala family in other states would be forwarded to the state governments concerned.
The chief minister was replying to a calling attention motion moved by legislator Naresh Sharma during the ongoing monsoon session.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the Chautala family had acquired land in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh by committing irregularities through the Chaudhary Devi Lal Gaushala, Mata Harki Devi Memorial Educational Society, Chaudhary Devi Lal Memorial Trust, Chaudhary Devi Lal Memorial Society and Jan Sewa Trust.
A six-member committee, constituted under the chairmanship of legislator B.B Batra, had last week submitted its report to the state government on the properties worth hundreds of crores illegally acquired by the Chautala family through the various trusts.
“The state government would forward the report to the central government, Delhi Development Authority, Punjab, Chandigarh, Income Tax Department and other departments and demand necessary action,” Hooda said.
Hooda lamented that the name of Chaudhary Devi Lal, a former deputy prime minister, was misused “for committing these irregularities”.
