Guwahati: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh has dared Congress to declare their Prime Ministerial candidate on Thursday during his northeast visit to review the party position ahead of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. Talking to reporters in Guwahati, he said that Congress is not in a position to announce their prime minister candidate after the declaration of Narendra Modi’s name from BJP’s side.

“Lot of speculations were in the air when it was our turn. Now, I would like to ask Congress to announce their Prime Ministerial candidate at this moment if they can do that. I don’t think they are in a position to name somebody to counter Narendra Modi,” Singh said after meeting the core committee groups of all the NE states in Guwahati during his two day visit.

On Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi’s comment on Modi as his magic won’t work in Assam, Singh said that Modi does not do magic but work. “It is the Congress leaders who try to create magic ahead of every election to fool common people. However, Narendra Modi has proved that he works and he will continue to work,” he said.

Rajnath Singh further slammed the UPA government for their failed economic policy and others. “UPA’s wrong economic policy has put the country in ICU. If the Dollar is climbing in the escalator, Indian Rupee is in ventilation support. Even the domestic investors are afraid of putting money in the country, let alone the foreigners,” he added.

He also questioned the UPA Government’s reported step to attempt a dilution of the Nuclear Liability Bill (NLB) to suit the needs of the US Government and American firms interested in taking bilateral nuclear commerce with India forward.

“I would like to ask the Prime Minister regarding this to clear his stand and issue a clarification. It is being at the pressure of the US government,” he added.
