New Delhi : Visiting British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg Monday met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and discussed various matters including the retrospective tax amendment issue.
Jaitley intimated Clegg on the government’s stand on the retrospective tax amendments with reference to the Vodafone and Cairn Energy tax cases in the country, according to informed sources.
Earlier in the day Clegg also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He said Modi and he discussed how the regulation burden can be removed, paving the way for investment coming to India.
“Huge attention was paid on how the regulation burden can be removed. This will act as catalyst for increasing the level of investment coming to India,” Clegg said.
