Sharjah: On occasion of UAE national Day Being 43rd National Day the sports meet was held at Sharjah University Ground on Friday 12th December 2014. Emirates India Fraternity Forum, UAE, Karnataka chapter organizes sports meet every year on the occasion.
The sports meet which began at 8 am was inaugurated by Mr. Nasir Mohammed. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “the potential of sport is a tool for development and peace, feel regret to say that the sport remains outside the mainstream of thinking among the society. Sport must be seen as by-product of overall development”.
The spectacular event inaugurated with four teams wearing different color of uniforms in fully crowded stadium with EIFF members and spectators. Separate competitions were organized exclusively for women and children.
The sports meet featured many activities and games such as 100 meters, 200 meters, 4X100 relay, kabbadi, volley ball, cricket, football and tug of war.
The winners were as follows: 100,200meters, cricket and Relay was won by Burdubai, Football by Deira, Kabbadi by Burdubai , Tug of War by Abu Dhabi and volley ball by Sharjah.
