Parrikar, who has been at loggerheads with the union home ministry over the issue of allotment of IAS and IPS officers from 2012, told reporters here that the cabinet had unanimously resolved to request the central government to de-link the state from the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and other Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre and start its own Goa cadre.

“The central government is behaving like feudal lords. They have repeatedly ignored requests from the state government to hold a meeting of the joint cadre management authority.

“We need good AIS officers to run the state,” Parrikar said.

The chief minister said repeated requests by the state government to allot good central officers were not heeded to by the home ministry.

“They are behaving like they are kings. No meeting of cadre management authority has taken place. Unilateral decisions are taken by some Tom, Dick and Harry in the bureaucracy there and they decide arbitrarily who is the officer to be posted,” he said.

The chief minister said Goa would need around 40 to 50 AIS officers once the cadre is formed.
