New Delhi : Amid pandemonium, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tabled the Jan Lokpal bill in the assembly Friday.
The Aam Aadmi Party government went ahead with the move despite Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung advising the Delhi assembly not to consider the bill as he has not okayed it.
“The bill has been tabled in the house,” Law Minister Somnath Bharti told reporters later. “We hope a healthy discussion will follow.”
Soon after the bill was introduced, both Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party legislators massed near Speaker M.S. Dhir, leading to the adjournment of the house for 20 minutes.
The bill seeks to curb corruption in high places.
