Chandigarh : A shoe was hurled by a man at Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda during a function at Dabwali town Sunday. The man was arrested.
The shoe, however, fell well short of its target. It landed near the media enclosure at the venue of the “Rail Pull rally” in Dabwali in Sirsa district, 265 km from here.
Haryana Police personnel immediately pounced on the attacker and took him away from the venue.
The middle-aged man, identified as Raja Ram, is a resident of Nathusari Chopta village in Sirsa. Police said Raja Ram is a sitting member of the village council.
A police spokesman said the attacker told officials during questioning that he threw the shoe towards the chief minister to get publicity.
On Feb 2, Hooda was assaulted by an unemployed youth, Kamal Mukhija, at a busy market in Panipat town when the chief minister was proceeding to a rally venue in an open jeep.
The youth was arrested but let off later by police saying he was under depression.
