Patna : In the wake of the BJP demanding his resignation over his alleged links to two terror suspects, Bihar’s Minority Welfare and Information Technology Minister Shahid Ali Khan Monday said his name is Khan but he was not a terrorist.

“My name is Shahid Ali Khan and I am not a terrorist,” the minister said in the state assembly replying to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members who were demanding his resignation.

Khan said it was unfortunate that despite him getting a clean chit from the police, the BJP is wooing its vote bank by deliberately trying to politicise the issue.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said his cabinet colleague Khan has no connection with the terror suspects.

He added that the inquiry was conducted by superintendents of police of Motihari and Sitamarhi districts.

Last week after television channels broadcast reports about Khan’s alleged connection with terror suspects, a police inquiry found it was not true.

Shahid Ali Khan has no connection with the two suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) or Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agents,” Additional Director General of Police Ravinder Kumar said.

The terror suspects were found to be residents of the state’s Sitamarhi and Motihari districts but their connection with the IM or ISI was not established.
