Christened “Uttar Kanya”, the two-storey green building has been constructed near Phulbari and will be inaugurated during Banerjee’s visit to north Bengal.

“We had taken a decision to set up a branch secretariat in North Bengal as people from these far-flung places had to come to Kolkata for important work.

“Uttar Kanya is now ready to be functional. It is a fully ‘green building’ and built in a record time of less than a year,” Banerjee said.

North Bengal Development Minister Gautam Deb said “policies for north Bengal will be scripted at state secretariat Nabanna and Uttar Kanya will implement them to speed up development for the region”.
