Former President APJ Abdul Kalam to visit USTM on July 23

Guwahati: Former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, will be visiting the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) shortly. The Missile Man of India will address the ‘North East College Principals’ Conclave (NCPC)-2014’ on July 23, 2014 at Techno City.

This conclave is being organized by USTM in association with Assam College Principals’ Council (ACPC) with an aim to streamline the education institutions, knowing each other’s potentials and working together for the promotion of educational scenario of the region.

Mahbubul Haque, Chancellor of USTM personally met APJ Abdul Kalam at his office at New Delhi. Haque said that Kalam had appreciated the efforts and achievements of the educational institutes set by Haque and gleefully accepted the invitation which will boost up the morale of every individual associated with the organization.

The highlight of the conclave will be a seminar on ‘Higher Education in North East with reference to Rashtriya Uchchatar Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA)’ to discuss various issues related to the implementation of RUSA.

The main objective of this conclave is to discuss with the Principals with up to date knowledge of Projects related to the development of educational infrastructure, getting funds for different projects given by UGC & other Govt. departments for the benefit of their respective colleges and the students’ community as a whole.

This conclave will also create a bridge between USTM and the Degree colleges as the University will assure these colleges to extend all kinds of IT support especially for the Colleges situated at rural remote areas. USTM plans to offer the proposal of making websites for these colleges free of cost.

More than one thousand college principals of all the Degree Colleges of Assam as well as the other NE states, teachers and renowned academicians of the region are expected to participate in the conclave. A large number of college & school students will also attend the address of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

Kalam will address the Principals emphasizing on Science, Innovation & other related issues to be cultured in educational institutions for the greater benefit of the students of the region as well as the country which will be a step towards Technological advancement to make India a developed country.

The conclave was earlier scheduled to be held on July 12, after Kalam’s acceptance of invitation, it has been rescheduled on July 23, 2014. All the principals may contact the Organizing Secretary, NCPC-2014 for any kind of queries.
