Islamabad: At least five miltants were killed and eight arrested in a shootout in Pakistan’s Balochistan province Saturday, a security official said.
The shootout took place during a search operation carried out by security forces in the Pidrak area of Turbat in the Kech district of Balochistan, the security official told Dawn online.
“The forces quickly responded and killed five militants during the exchange of fire,” he said.
Eight suspects have been arrested from Pidrak and are being interrogated by the police.
The bodies have not been identified yet.
Arms and ammunitions have been recovered from the militants.
The security official claimed that the militants who were killed in the attack were previously involved in other attacks against security forces in the area.
