Varanasi: The Bharatiya Janata Party Tuesday released a special manifesto for Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency from where its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is contesting.
Releasing the manifesto, senior party leader Arun Jaitley said Modi has a special vision for the temple town and would unleash a series of developmental programmes after winning the elections.
The manifesto lays special emphasis on infrastructre development, assimilation of modern techniques in urban planning and garbage disposal. It also talks of taking special care of the weavers and of promoting tourism in the city.
It also refers to the pollution in the river Ganga – the lifeline of Varanasi and assures that adequate and prompt care would be taken to ensure that the holy river is cleaned of pollution.
Varanasi, where polling will be held May 12, is witnessing a keen contest as Modi is contesting a Lok Sabha seat for the first time and faces former Delhi chief minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress’s Ajay Rai.
