Chief Minister Gogoi who flew from Guwahati on a chopper in the morning, first visited Narayanguri in Baksa district and met the affected families at a relief camp set up by the district administration. Gogoi while expressing his profound grief over the loss of precious and innocent lives, condemned the dastardly acts committed against innocent and unharmed persons, including women and children, as ‘inhuman’ and said that the Government would leave no stone unturned to nab the culprits behind the incidents. “Anyone involved in the gruesome crimes would not be spared at any cost,” Gogoi told the members of the bereaved families. Gogoi directed the top police officials to take immediate steps to identify the culprits behind the incidents and to apprehend them.

Gogoi assured the people that the Government would beef up security in the violence-hit areas by setting up permanent police pickets. “Our Government will ensure that the people in the violence affected areas do not feel insecure and that they get due and proper justice,” he added. The Chief Minister further assured the people that the Government would take all possible steps to confiscate illegal arms. Meanwhile, a vigorous drive is on to seize illegal weapons.

The Chief Minister assured the affected people that the Government would extend all possible help and assistance to them and augment security so that they can return to their homes soon.

Gogoi said that the Government has already entrusted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe into the incidents, besides taking the decision to institute a judicial inquiry by a retired judge to get to the bottom of the truth.
