SC extends Ma’dani’s bail by a week

Kozhikode: The Supreme Court on Friday extended the bail of Abdul Nasser Ma’dani, leader of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who has been alleged to be involved in the 2008 Bangalore serial bomb blast conspiracy, by seven days.

The apex court, while extending the bail period, also asked Ma’dani to restrict his interactions with the media.

The court, on July 11 had granted bail to Ma’dani while taking note that he was an under-trial prisoner who was already behind bars for the last four years and was suffering from various ailments, including diabetes and vision-threatening ailment in both eyes.

Ma’dani was arrested August17, 2010, in connection with the Bangalore bomb blast.

He had earlier undergone nine year incarceration in the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blast case, in which he was finally acquitted.
