Borsad (Gujarat): Ahead of the 145th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation on October 2, students of Hanifa School (English medium) here had a gift for him by cleaning the city, famous for the Dandi March heritage route.
The students, their parents and school staff took to the streets and carried out a cleanliness drive for the whole day today. It inspired the locals and prompted them to join the day-long drive, Ms Harinder Dhillon, school principal, said in a release.
Apart from the cleanliness drive, locals also got some vital tips from the students on maintaining cleanliness and proper waste disposal. The highlight of the drive was when the students did role-plays from popular Hindi movie Munna Bhai MBBS and portrayed main characters Munna and Circuit.
Students also edited and made rib tickling remixes of popular Hindi Songs such as “Kachra Re”, “Chaar Baalti Kachra” and “Tujhme Marz Dikhta hai…”. School management chairman Faisal Fazlani, Director Zuber Gopalani, Principal Ms. Harinder Dhillon and senior school management committee members and Bhanu Bhai, from office, along with Borsad Seva Nigam and the entire faculty of Hanifa School were present for the drive.
“It was indeed a worthy task as this drive also united people from all sects of life to clean the Heritage Route. At the end of the drive, our school also came up with a signature drive in which locals also took oath to maintain the cleanliness and they promised students that they would keep their locality clean. All the people present in the drive had sense of satisfaction as well as being proud as it is said cleanliness is half of Faith,” the release said.
