TB Centre inaugurated at JNMC

Aligarh: The Drug Resistant TB Centre – established with the financial assistance from the state TB division and RNTCP – and Paediatrics/Surgical ICU were inaugurated at the JN Medical College here today.

Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah (Retd), Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) inaugurated the DR-TB Centre and also visited the ‘Malnutrition Section’ at the Paediatrics Ward, Medicine ICU, and the newly established Dialysis Unit for University employees, a release said here.

Shah expressed satisfaction over the commendable efforts made by the Medical College Administration to upgrade its services.

Professor Zuber Ahmad, Chairman, Department of TB and Respiratory Diseases said all the patients who need treatment would be admitted at the Centre, investigated and treated without any charge for entire duration. He expressed hope that the treatment of patients will not be affected by non-affordability of medicine.

Professor Ahmad added that in the 12-bedded DR-TB Centre, full measures have been taken to prevent infections. He thanked Dr Saggarwal for providing financial assistance, Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal, JNMC, Professor M Ashraf Malik, former Principal and other para-medic staff for their support, the release added.
