Indian expats conduct blood donation drive in Jeddah for help Hajj pilgrims

Jeddah, KSA: Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath (TNTJ) collaborated with King Fahad Hospital (KFHJ) to lead a major blood donation campaign in the city for the Hajj pilgrims. TNTJ is a social organization based in South Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

The event took place at KFHJ Blood Bank in Jeddah on September 5, where almost 80 liters of blood was collected from around 160 donors; while a large number of expatriates mostly from Tamil speaking community from India pledged to donate on a regular basis.

The King Fahd Hospital Authorities have announced earlier that blood collected during this camp will be utilized to help save the lives of Hajj pilgrims, who are coming from various parts the world to the Holy city of Mecca & Medina, in an emergency.

Explaining the purpose of such a campaign, Mr. Mohammed Maheen, Spokesperson of this campaign for TNTJ said that a good number of Hajj pilgrims who suddenly fall ill or meet with accidents require blood and this contribution will go long way in helping such section of the pilgrims. Arrangements will be made with the hospital to dispatch the collection to be sent to blood banks in Makkah.

Jeddah TNTJ is well known in hospital circles not only for conducting campaigns also for its frequent blood donations on urgent basis. TNTJ volunteers will transport the donors to the hospital and back.

This is 7th such blood drive of this nature by TNTJ.
