The Behrampur MP was referring to suspended and arrested Trinamool Rajya Sabha member Kunal Ghosh’s claim that the Trinamool top leadership met Sen in Delo at Kalimpong in March 2012 on the sidelines of an official visit of Banerjee.

In the wake of the arrest of Trinamool vice president and former director general of police Rajat Majumdar and the grilling of its MP Srinjoy Bose by the CBI, Chowdhury said the Saradha scam and the Trinamool were synonymous and complimentary to each other.

“The day is not far when most of its top leaders will be behind bars. Totally mired in the scam, this government has become non-functional,” added Chowdhury.

Meanwhile, city business and former Trinamool functionary Asif Khan too lashed out at the Banerjee-led party.

“Trinamool cannot become clean until the CBI submits its charge sheet and says none of its leaders is involved in it. Unless the CBI gives it, the Trinamool cannot be given a clean chit,” said Khan.

Khan, who worked as the Trinamool convenor in Uttar Pradesh, severed all ties with the party and floated his own political group Tahafaz-e-Isam during the day.

Khan, who was grilled by the CBI and his house raided, has denied any involvement in the scam.
