The three workers were injured when both party men clashed in the afternoon at Rashidpura polling station. The injured were then rushed to city hospital for first aid.
City police have arrested Nasir Siddiqui, MIM candidate from Ganesh Nagar.
There were also reports of hurling of stones between two groups outside Ganesh Colony. Four men involved in the violence were immediately detained by the police.
Talking with TV news channel, Abdul Sattar, Congress MLA, blamed the MIM for the clash and said baring this incidence, polling was peaceful in the city.
Imtiyaz Jaleel, MIM MLA, on the other hand charged all political parties for indulging into dirty tactics of distributing money a day before the election.
“Any worker, not only of MIM, but belonging to any other party, if he does wrong then action should be taken against him. Police are there to maintain law and order and to make election peaceful. But the bigger question here is what is the Election Commission doing when parties are distributing money for vote?” Jaleel said.
He termed the election process in India as ‘bogus’ and alleged that many in Aurangabad are voting based on bogus identity cards. “I do not understand what EC observers in the city are doing when money is being distributed previous night to buy voters?” he questioned.
There are 907 candidates who are in fray from 113 wards for the city civic polls. MIM has fielded 60 candidates. After a spectacular debut during the 2014 assembly elections but ending up on the third position at the Bandra bypolls earlier this month, the MIM is pinning hopes on the Aurangabad civic polls to expand its footprint in Maharashtra.
